Spiral

By Jasmine Mallinger

Faded pink

makes me think

of that time

you made me sink,

deeper into

this mind of mine.

In love with a memory-

I never lied.

Crawling through

bitter light beams of time

on a spiraling descent

into the sublime phony future

I had scribbled out in my mind.

Rotting inside,

cursing silently

as we all smile wide.

Speaking to a blank mask

I think to ask if you ever cried

Over my bones

That you left to rest softly

On the edge of low tide.
